John McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama's character, he described the Democrat as a "decent person."
The last eight years with Republican, George Bush, has put our country at war, a war without a plan, much like Viet Nam. Remember, this is a war entered into with lies, lies from George Bush and Dick Cheney.
The US has incured a higher debt, than ever in history. This debt is mounting daily. Our economy is in colapse and yet, there is absolutely no accountability on the part of the Republican party, nor their candidates! This makes no sense what so ever! Do Repbulicans truly believe that higher taxes on the middle class and taxing Health Care benefits is the answer?
It is time for "Real Change", change to having two well educated people in office, rather than a president that relied on his familes accomplishments while he (McCain), partied, crashed planes and graduated at the bottom of his class. Palin, is not even worth mentioning, she is an actress, and overly ambitious, completely out of touch, actress!
Not an actress (that's the real Palin, fer sure) but definitely a celebrity. And we've all seen how the bigger the celebrity, the harder they fall.
Since when has real change ever happened? Obama is a leftist with very interesting and not so ethical friends and alliances. He is supported by Acorn(voter fraud) ayres (terrorist) Fannie Mae and MAC (huge contributions for blocking reform supported by McCain), the "honorable" reverend Wright(God Damm the United Sates) and Louis Farakhan(called him the Savior).
These are just the ones we know about. Now why on earth would I ever question his character? Do you really think your taxes will go down? He is lowering taxes by a little in his plan but what he doesn't mention is that he is letting the Bush tax cuts lapse. Did you realize this???? By every estimate, that means your taxes will go up. It's called a "gotcha!" You didn't read his plan, did you? I work in finance and read his plan and figured this out. I so wish that the people who are supporting him because he is the flavor of the month would just do some research and be informed voters instead of lemmings like you are.
At least McCain served his country with honor and went above and beyond his call to duty. He has record to look at versus no record of accomplishment of Obama.
Thank you Maryland! The Obama supporter is hoping that Obama will do what he say he will do, with absolutely no history of doing so...
Thank you Maryland! Serving your country in war definitely automaticaly qualifies you to effectively run a country........
We're witnessing the end-of-life gasping of a dying ideology and the party that spawned it. Whenever you hear a right wing ideologue use the phrase "angry left", remember where the real hatred resides in American politics. These people don't represent all Republican voters, perhaps not even a majority, but they are the intellectual base and emotional force that continues to drive it.
These 2 creeps should be disqualified from the Presidential race and if there was ever a case of domestic terrorism, this is it. Palin was just found guilty in her home state of Alaska of abusing her office. How come McCain and Palin have not been arrested for inciting people attending their rallies to call for violence against Obama? I guess Bush's police-state antiterrorism laws only apply to peaceful protesters against HIS many lies and corrupt policies. Oh yes, it has just been found out that the Police-State Bush administration has been listening to ORDINARY Americans personal phone calls!!!! Can you SMELL the hypocracy???
In perhaps the greatest irony in American history an individual who: because of numerous long-term subversive associations; admitted heavy drug use; and, failure to produce a birth certificate - could NOT pass a basic FBI background check for an initial security clearance, is considered to be a serious contender for the Presidency of the United States! How is it possible that a man who is widely recognized as the least experienced; and, most radical far-left extremist ever nominated by a major political party could beguile so many simply because he's a SLICK TALKER? In perhaps the ONLY forthright moment of his extended campaign, Obama, while being interviewed on ABC, lamented the dispersions frequently cast against: "MY MUSLIM FAITH". The ascendancy of this charlatan to the Presidency would unquestionably mark the portending demise of our Constitutional Republic that so many have shed their precious blood to nurture and preserve. Greg Neubeck
umm.again if he didnt pass a security clearance nor produce a real birth certicate he would not have been able to run...they have to fill out an application, and meet ALL standards, it is junk like this that is losing the race for the GOP.
I completely agree with you. But, how did this happen. Hillary has even hired an attorney to look into these allegations. So it's not the McCain camp. Why is the MSM covering this up. I have read Obama really can't produce an authentic birth certificate from Hawaii. If he gets elected and we later find out he is not an American citizen our whole political system will be broken. We need to get to the truth whatever it may be before Nov. 4th.
Obama is hardly the "most radical far-left extremist!!" He's more of a centrist. "Numerous long-term subversive associations?" Where's the "numerous?" The board that Ayers and Obama served on was run by a conservative former Reagan-appointed Ambassador who asked both of them to be on his board along with numerous other people. He wasn't friends with Ayers. Anyone in education circles knows Ayers. By the time Obama met him, his past had been forgotten. If you play the guilty by assocation game, McCain would lose. Palin is married to someone who wants Alaska to secede from the U.S. That's "Muslim faith" thing is so stupid and you know it. It's Bush who has been tearing our Consitution to shreds; Obama will retstore it. He's a good American with leadership qualities and you can't handle that.
Even if Obama was a Muslem, what is wrong with that? Why do we feel we have the right to critisize a whole religion based on radicals. By the sounds of these comments, there are alot of radical Christians out there as well. I am a Christian and my religion does not allow me to say such hateful things about anybody. We can agree to disagree, but, we should never be so hateful. This great country was created based on the wants and needs for religious freedom.
John McCain used to have my admiration. Unfortunately, he has made some choices that have made me think twice. His comment "that one" during the last debate clinched it. It wasn't respectful at all. If he respects Obama, he never would have addressed him in that manner. I am an informed voter. I have read everything on everybody. I actually research before making my decisions. We can all put our own spin on anything. That is why there are so many different versions of the Bible. We all think we are right. We should be passionate about this election, but we need to be less hateful and radical. Where is this country going? We have taken such a huge step backwards.
It is a shame that people are fine with a black man as long as he is playing on their favorite basketball or football team but wouldn't sit down to a meal with him. As much as some want to say it isn't about race, unfortunately, I know far too many people who have admitted the truth. They won't vote for Obama because he is black. Never mind his is also white. Please stop the hatred.
Greg you're not helping your people. Honestly, if you're going to debate be logical so people at least take the discussion seriously. Otherwise it sounds like you're ranting incoherently.
Obama (and McCain's) birth certificates are literally scanned all over the internet on reliable sites. McCain gave his up and then Obama gave his up. And since both of their mothers are American, so are they.
And now you're just killing me...do you know how many background checks you have to go through to be a US Senator? I mean seriously, if you're American how do you not know that?
Further, you're making it clear to everyone you didn't view the entire interview when Obama said "...my Muslim faith." Let me help. Go to youtube. Type in Obama and "...my Muslim faith..." Now here is the important (and should be obvious) part. Watch the FULL interview. It's about 15 to 20 minutes long. If you still think he said he's a Muslim...well you're just choosing to be stupid.
Ignorance is not knowing better. Stupid is knowing better and ignoring the facts.
And just to throw it out there since I'm clearly frustrated by ongoing stupidity and ignorance on these boards. When did being Muslim become a sin? Who are we going after next, the Jews? The Buddists? Where does it say you have to be Christian to run for any American office? And then what type of Christian do you have to be? Methodist? Southern Baptist?
Some people didn't like Kennedy because he was not only Irish but also Catholic!
River View...
Catholic was the label they hung on JFK (who was Catholic) in hopes people would believe he would be taking his orders from the Pope of Rome.
They've hung the title Muslim on Obama in hopes people will believe he'll be taking his orders from OBL, and Muslim nations.
Tactics of fear. Muslim aggression. Terrorist associations. The middle name of Hussein. It's so very simple to see what is really taking place. Hussein + terrorist + Muslim = Un-American and the end of America. Republican strategist's working overtime.
YES.... It has now come full circle the RACIST tactics and feelings of the republicans. The choice of Sarah Palin "IN MY OPINION" has DOOMED McCains chances at the presidency. Obama through it all has CONSISANTLY shown temperment, style, grace, knowledge and strength.
The subtle calling for riotous behaivor by McCain/Palin has has shown white America what Blacks in this country ALREADY know too well.... That racism and bigotry are indeed alive and well and that we as a country HAVE NOT moved on.
Sure McCain had to stick up for Obama because he was seeing how the half truths and dangerous hate he was spreading was backfiring.
It still amazes me that people are still this ignorant after all this time. People like that women obviously don't do research. She stated she's don'e a lot of reading. Where? If she did a lot of reading she would've known that the information she repeated were lies. There is no excuse for this type of ignorance now a days with all the information you can find.
Try Field & Stream, Guns & Ammo, People, OK!, Glamour, and Vogue.
Thank you for your comment. I agree 100%. Sometimes when I here these people say they have heard or read, I wonder if that vast library of data exists only in their heads. It's like they are so sure they are right, that it must be written down somewhere. Why take the time to actually read or varify anything. I am sure they saw something somewhere like on one of the many fine and unbiased entertainment news shows on FOX or perhaps they thought those S.N.L. skits where real.
I also am amused that when confronted very few can tell you where they read or heard anything.
Isn't it a shame what a few consecutive bad decisions can do to people in this country?! McCain had a real chance to be competitive in this race, but he chose Sarah Palin. She had not been vetted.......and is the Gov of the third most isolated state in the country. Excellent choice John! I would Boo too if I were a republican. Then, because you are falling behind in the polls, you sway from what's important to all Americans and resort to attacking an amazing man (Obama) and his character. McCain has enough charisma to affect a lot of people.....and he and Palin are using it to strike fear into the hearts of ignorant Americans that don't know any better.
I am very proud that Barack is using his charisma to unite this country and bring back the one foundational element that this country was founded on and has since been lost........"The American Dream" I think that it is time for a President that isn't a super wealthy, anglo-saxon male that was born into what he has, can't tell you on the spot how many homes he owns or who paid for his daughter's brand new sports sedan and doesn't understand what it's like to be a "Main Street American." GO OBAMA!!!!!
McCain/Palin have been spending the last few weeks creating this environment, feeding ignorance, and inciting hate and now they are taken aback a bit by it? What a joke and what absolute ignorance on human psychology. We do not want such people in our white house. The thought scares me.
But imagine how dull it would have all been if McCain had picked Lieberman
I dont think even Lieberman would have stooped as low as Palin did
Too late McCain, you should of said something the very first time this behavior was exhibited. You and your vacuous running mate are so out of touch with what is happening in this country, its frightening to think that a significant proportion of the electorate will actually cast a vote for you. It unfortunately shows that a significant portion of the population still has deeply bigoted views and are so intolerant of others different from them, that they would utter such things in a public forum. As a white man, I would be proud to have Barack Obama as the next president, I think he is a perfect example of what American should be and the hope that every man and woman should have. The Republican party's right wing has become neo-Natzi in their philosophies, they preach hatred, bigotry and intolerance and then try to tell us they are defending the principles that this country was founded on, nothing could be farther from the truth. All decent Americans need to band together and cast a vote for the hope of real change in this country. I don't agree with all of Obama's views and he is not perfect and not the Messiah, but he is an intelligent man, and I believe has the best interest of the common American at heart more than McCain and Palin who want the status quo for the privileged few. We are in grave danger as a nation, this is truly a defining moment for this nation, we must not choose incorrectly. We are no longer viewed with as a shining example by the rest of the world, but viewed with contempt and hatred, we are reaping what we have sowed. Our very existence is at stake, if we opt for the status quo, then our great nation will continue to crumble and eventually cease to exist.
You called me a Neo-Natzi? Have you been paying attention? Obama has supporters that call for cutting the ears off, cutting the nose off, rip the flesh from their bodies, god wants you to.
That isnt Hatred? That isnt violence? And you call me a Neo-Natzi. And McCain and Palin are the bad guys? WOW!!!!!!!
Mary: Please cite the source of your charges.
what proof do you have of people saying things like that i would really like to see that. im not saying you are lying i just want to read about it myself.
Where did you come up with this nonsense?
Mary I have also been hearing these things from the Obama crowd. Funny how the MSM only reports about the McCain stories.
Mary in America - gee, how about you get the beep out of America? Don't know who'd take ya, tho'.
Lets see,
I've been called a natzi, told to get the bleep out of this country, called a radical right-winged loon. And for asking a couple of valid questions. You have not answered one of them but replied with insults. It is that kind or character that I am talking about.
To Jon, Brian, and Jamie, The questions of Obamas honesty, character, and associations have been out there for some time. If you really need all of them repeated I will but I hope you have the time. But if you do want me to ask them all again I will, but I would expect more than insults. I would expect the answers. Just like your friend Monty, he decided to insult my faith, my god, my character without once making an attempt to defend and answer the questions.
1> Association with Ayers? And not when he was 8.
2>Percy Sutton stated Khalid al-Mansour asked him to help get Obama into Harvard.
watch video of what this man says about whites and americans!!!
3>Where is all his money coming from. And please, don't say small contibutions that don't have to be disclosed. Do you really think radicals cant figure that out?
4> check out his voting record, it speaks for itself. Oh yeah, he pushed the wrong button.
Lets start there and see if I get insulted or answered by you sweet innocent democrats that hate all this mud slinging.
ad hominid
Really? Thats it?
Thank you, you just proved my point
Yep, I'm still waiting. 1 insult and ZERO answers.
Keep it up guys, you make your party proud.
Its funny I was actually going to vote for McCain before he put her on the ticket...
I just don't trust her at all, I was hoping he would put someone on his ticket that was very up on the economy and foreign politics, but we got her...
So now I support Obama in Full, had 2 Obama Supporters come to the house the other day and spoke for awhile about the policies and tax cuts and it truely sounds like they care for the middle class and bringing the United States back on track..Doesn't sound like another Clinton issue.
I think there are alot of past McCain supporters that feel the same way I do...I know my wife was hardcore McCain till we spoke with the 2 gentlmen about Obama, and she is starting to see how the McCain ticket is being ran, like a loaded gun waiting to go off..
First of all I am sick of all you people who say you were a McCain supporter until... B.S. As for tax cuts. Are you kidding me. If you think there is going to be any money left over after the Democrats in Congress get through paying off their buddy's in this banking crisis to give you a tax cut you are going to be very unhappy. And lets be honest people, how much do you really pay in taxes. After you get your write-offs and then you check back from the state and federal government, how much do you really pay. I'll bet most of you only pay around 5-9%. So there really isn't much left to give. And also remember when they raise the taxes on small businesses they are going to have to raise their prices and/or cut employers. So therefore you will need that tax cut to pay more for goods and services and that tax cut won't really matter to you when you are on the unemployment line collecting a check that you will then have to pay tax on. Neither one of these candidates are going to give you anything. So don't look for a hand out get off your butts and work. Start your own business. Find a way to make money for yourself and quit begging the government to help you. They have never been able to help anyone but themselves. That goes for Rep.s as well as Dems. So hang on people no matter what we are in for a long and painful ride.
Well Reggie
When you step off that soap box, I will tell you I do pay taxes, and I do work as does my wife...good luck on me getting any free hand outs, or anyone I know..
I have a friend and his family that have a small buisness and they are struggling as it is so the individuals that are in office right now are not doing much for the economy. But on the other hand you want us to vote for some of the same policies as the individual already in office? I think not!
This country needs a new outlook going into this century and to show the world we are not one sided like alot of them think we are..The latern needs more fuel before it goes dark and the individual that can fuel this lantern is Obama/Bidden..
America will shine bright again but its going to take time....and alot are going to have to put their views and feelings in their shadow to let this light burn bright...
Well tell your friends good-luck. And I am not being sarcastic. I really mean good-luck. Obama has small business in his sites and he is going to go after them. I hope you remember this if Obama gets elected. As far as taxes, again how much of a % do middle-class citizens really pay. My wife and I both work. We are very middle-class. After my interest deductions and after getting my state and federal check back, we are only paying about 6%. That's all. Thats not the end of the world. I do not want a government handout.
McCain just has no viable solution to get this country out of the abyss created by his close buddy, George "Mission Accomplished" Bush, and his GOP cronies. McCain's only strategy to win is to distract, distract, distract...
Distract with his choice of VP, a gun-totting, moose-hunting, "I can see Russia from Alaska", incoherent, belligerent, power-abusing, despot with lipstick;
distract with his erratic grandstanding during this whole financial crisis;
distract with totally absurd accusations against Obama;
distract by lurching from one extreme position to the other extreme;
distract by getting his VP and his neocon cronies to rile up and feeding his ignorant, fanatical supporters (who share his values) with angry, absurd rhetoric.
McCain is totally self-absorbed with winning at all costs, including the total destruction of this country and our economy.
Republicans are thugs. Fascist thugs. They have abdicated their right to lead.
Hey, to be fair, not all Republicans are Fascist thugs. Many are starting to speak out about McCain and Palin's comments. To paint ALL republicans in this broad brush isn't any more fair than it is for anyone to paint all Democrats as terrorist loving radicals.
There are a lot of older, white, ex-Republicans like myself, who are voting for Obama. 8 years is enough, no more McSame.
NY I agree, I know some great Repubs that would probably be better as President than these two radicals...
I think McCain might be ok, but "The Palin" brings out the bad voters/Repubs, hell most of the people shouting at the rallies are probably stalkers of hers....
It seems that we are seeing a small return of the McCain of 2000... a decent man that I may have actually voted for if the Dem nomination had been given to Hillary rather than Obama. I wonder if the McCain of 2008 is having second thoughts about towing the party line and what kind of person it has turned him into?
I second this...He is having second thoughts on the type of people that are turning out at these rallies and starting to support him...I don't really think they are support for him, but more for her and the hate of someone else...
I certainly think she brings out the bad in people, I am usually pretty good at reading individuals I see considering the line of work I am in and I don't see anything good coming from "The Palin." Her winks and words come across to the wrong individuals and its starting to show...
Fireside,
Women scare you don't they?
Mary....
Fireside is correct, McCain supporters are far more interested in Palin. She's right out of their vision. They fully understand that the chance of McCain passing is great.
Sarah Palin is their candidate. Sarah has been so confident and discerns the crowd so easily that she went so far to say a Palin.McCain ticket was what America needs. Palin is not running for John McCain. Palin is running for Palin and her personal agenda. She's power mad.
Your Funny!
Even when McCain FINALLY told the crowd to calm down & how he respected Obama, he never said 'He's an American'. He never said 'No, he's not Arab, and if he were of that descent he would still be American'. McCain and his campaign need this anger to draw attention away from the inept strategies & lack of world view he & Palin have to offer America. Imagine, if you can, McCain wins the White House and world leaders have seen these he and Palin inciting riotous speech, being petty, verbally battering a fellow citizen. Think there'd be much respect forthcoming, especially after these last years? They recognize thug behavior for what it is... thug behavior.
Our history of mobs, riots, and rasism make these speeches definitely not 21st Century. This from a guy who said 'My friends' 24 times in 40 minutes of debate time can't even say once 'Senator Obama is American'... sheesh!
c'mon he did say he was a citizen. McCain has actually said something decent for a change. You can tell by the look on his face he didn't like what those people was saying, he is probably getting to the point in wondering why only an angry mob is attending his rallys.
ohiogal..
I agree with you. i also have to say that Senator McCain realized negative comments were destroying his character. That they were beneath his dignity. I give McCain one up for taking the stand he did.
I don't believe in all he says, but I honor him.
All the Right Wingers are going to accomplish with this approach is to futher polarize this nation, and incited the faithful to some futher inappropriate act. What they fail to realize is that most of this country is middle of the road, concerned with country, people, and their own welfare, and that of their loved ones. Behavior that was described in the story is for one purpose only, a last ditch effort to stir up voters to fear Obama. Luckily, there is a greater fear out there, that of the economy, and the abject failure of the Neocon agenda which Bush II and the Lemmings in congress followed, without considereing the result upon the country. Now we are seeing it, Massive National debt, a totally unnecessary war in Iraq, tax cuts to the very rich who don't need it, and who have not "reinvested in America", but instead are rewarded for exporting jobs, and manufacturing overseas, total disaster in the financial and credit markets as a direct result of the Neocon mantra of "Deregulation", Abuse of power by Bush, Cheney, and others, a total disasterous 8 years, and the Right Wing wants another four more? Recent financial history has proven what does not work. Regan started the decline with his "trickel down theory", Bush 1, and Bush II continued with it, but it is a failure. We have nothing but incompetence by the best the Neocons have to offer, an unnecessary, wrongheaded neverending war in Iraq, (Note not Afganistan) Massive national debt as result of tax cuts to the rich, a energy supply disaster with the Cheney/Enron undisclosed energy policy, Social security at risk because Bush is stripping away any excess deposits above current expenses and funding the war, the Katrina disaster in New Orleans, the US Attorney scandal, the result of the Neocon mantra, the mortgage/credit/stock market meltdown, and then of course, the incessent lying to the public and abuse of power. What is McCain/Palin offering the Voter? Nothing, Just more of the same. There is a saying, "Lead, follow, or get out of the way" It is time for a change. The Neocon/Right Wing has lost on the issues. All that is left is personal attack, and unleashing the "Republican Hate Machine." As Palin has sunk this low, along with her handlers, it is time for the McCain Campain to get out of the way, unless of course, they can restore the old John McCain, the one that stood for something, before he sold out to the Radial Right. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us. A shame I think.
Nice post, ATC. There was a time when I had a lot of respect for McCain. Sadly, he's playing right into the Rep. tactics of fear and diversion from the real issues that face our country. I guess if you don't have anything to say, you resort to this type of campaign. And that is shameful.
The reason why McLame thinks Obama is a "decent" person is because there is not much difference between the 2. Both are liberals, one is just more of a socialist commie.
McCain contorts like he's playing a game of Twister when he compromises to show the left he's willing to reach across the aisle. If Obama ever wanted to reach across the aisle, he's have to reach over McCain!
Why does it seem Pailn is the only one in this campain with any B @ ll $....and she's a woman!
Brad: "socialist commie?" You really have succumbed to corporate propaganda, haven't you. I'll bet you are a big supporter of our military. Are you aware that the most socialistic institution in our society is the military? The government gives all and the government takes all. Of course, it has to in order to fulfill its mission. People like you think that if you can just throw the liberal label at someone you have won the argument. What you have really done is stop the thinking process.
Move to Alaska to be closer to your right wing nut. That's where she'll be headed after the election.
Being booed for calling your opponent 'decent'? Threats from the crowd? Remember when Bush stold the White House from Gore and Mobs of Republicans chanted for Gore to leave the Vice Presidental mansion? Right Wing talk show hosts who make outlandish and slanderous allegations about anyone who doesn't share their hatred and biases? The only reason McCain backed down is he realizes he probably won't win this election and he wants to have some legacy left. Even his own party is turning against him. Republicans can be a hateful group that tries to destroy their adversaries rather than fighting fair and being truthful. Bush has not helped one person in this Country other than multi millionaires, and McCain would be an extension of that. Think, people, please, before you vote out of fear and racism. Think what about you're doing, not only for you, but for the Country as a whole.
As disgusting as this type of campaigning is, I do have to say that these people are not indicative of the majority of republican voters. Republicans, in my opinion, have a wrong view of where this country should go and wrong views regarding reproductive choice, the waging and prosecution of the war in Iraq, taxes, social progams, and more. Listening to those at the McCain-Palin rallies, it is easy to think that all republicans have descended into a mob of angry, bigoted, and utterly dispicable racists and fools. I believe that what we see on television is great footage, but not the norm. Since the election is so near and McCain is so far behind, the average republican is not inspired to go out and attend rallies and so what you do get are the radical, rabid, "never say die" fringe. There probably wasn't a full set of teeth among them. Many of the republicans I know are decent Americans who are utterly turned off by this type of behavior and while they will probably still vote for McCain on republican principles, they do not believe that Obama is a terrorist or any of the other nonsense. They simply believe that he is too liberal in his politics for them. We should condemn the racist hate-mongers in McCain's and Palin's crowd and the candidates for encouraging this type of behavior with irresponsible speeches and being too slow and too wimpy in their "admonishment" of this behavior. We should not, I don't believe, condemn all republicans as being the same. We will have to live with these folks after the election. Just sayin'
You make a very good point. Somewhere along the line the Republicans have lost their way and it may have been when they started to cater to the Religious Right. Then the Neocons came into power (Cheney, Rumsfelct, Wolfiwitz, etal) with their far right agenda, and unethical people like Tom Delay. Rush Limbaugh has also done the Republicans and the country a disservice with his hate-filled talk and lies. He and others likehim have lowered politicial discourse in this country. There may be a lot of decent Repubicans out there but their party isn't the party it once was.
Remember what William Buckley said befor he died. "The Republicans have lost their way and need to take a long jouney into the desert so they may find themselves".
Watch the video then do the research. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxgSubmiGt8
I tried to pause this video to check who were the sources of the articles being cited but could not. I noticed that two of them were Conservative publications, so I would not expect them to be unbiased. There is not the possiblity to read the articles cited because the video only shows a line or two of the article. That tells me that the statement is probably being taken out of context. In any case, there was nothing in it that has not been discussed over and over again. The Raines/Johnson thing has been disspelled several times. And all the others have been investigated and have not found a smoking gun. The Democrats did not take over Congress until 2006. I think there has been a clean bill passed regarding oversight. That is usually the reason why bills are voted down. They add "sweeteners" in order to get people on board. Look at the bailout/rescue bill. It wasn't until $150 billion in pork was added to it that the Republicans came on board.
This is another Hail Mary by some who need to keep focus away from all of the issues. One point, if so much was being done by the Republicans during the time period identified in the video, why didn't the Republicans just pass the legislation. They were in control of Congress at the time.
I do believe McCain/Palin have taken the most despictable form of politics in pushing hate and rage in their base. I am glad that McCain finally found some integrity and tried to set the record straight. Unfortunately he has already unleased a mob of angry, uninformed group of people. His supporters get an F, for poor citizenship and lack of human decency, but they are a reflection of their candidates.
Never happy Demoncrats. McCain tries to be decent and you don't like that. Be dammed if does and dammed if he don't. I think you all are scared to death of Palin. And all this McBush, McSame & the rest of these names are childish. Grow up.
He's waited too long to "be decent". Now, it doesn't count.
It was a feeble attempt at decency. He could be much stronger about it. His negative ads are still running.
Jan, I could not agree with you more. The hatred spewing from the left is so childish. But then again they are the ones that need the government to hold their little hands.
Jan...and calling Democrats "Demoncrats" is not childish? Uhm...sure
He wasn't 'decent'... he just pulled back enough to save his own butt if some future event required investigation
Jan,
You are right, I am very scared of Palin and you better be also.
Reggie,
Don't you think the Government needs to look in the hands of the Wallstreet CEOs that took all of our money?
No, calling them demoncrats is not childish. Its the truth.
Roger, sorry it took so long to respond. I do think the Government needs to look into the hands of these Wallstreet crooks. I will even take it one step further. I think heads need to roll when it comes to these CEO's. I am outraged at our Congress, our Senate, our President, and these crooks on Wallstreet all of whom have taken advantage of average American citizens AGAIN!! I am very afraid however that if the Democrat party has complete control we will never get to the bottom of this disaster. They are already giving them (Wallstreet crooks) way more money than they need. We should have let the free market take it course. The Government should step in to investigate and prosecute. We should not bail out these corrupt banks with our money.
There is no way we, the American people will be able to follow where this money goes. The CEO's are going to take care of themselves first, then they will funnel money back to the Congress people who supported them. Then that Congress person will get reelected and funnel more money back to the crooks. This is a total outrage!! That being said, McCain or Obama, will not be able to do anything different. They both are part of the problem. We are going to suffer for many years to come because we, the American people, would not find someone who is a real leader. I don't know who that person is but it certainly is not McCain or Obama.
"No, ma'am. He's a decent, family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with (him) on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign is all about."
I am not impressed with this response. The lady that spoke out said the "....he's an Arab.." To which the Presidential Nominee answered with the above.
This says to me that John McCain is taking note that Obama is a decent man...Does this mean that Arabs aren't?
To all you Democrats out there. Will anything short of the death of senator McCain make you happy? It seems you are calling for riots and hate. Obama has not answered any of the questions posed to him. The questions have never been about what happened when he was 8, but thats the answer we get. It is about kicking off his campaign in the mans living room, was he 8 then? NO! How about 20 years in his radical church, he never heard racist remarks or the plain hatred his Pastor and followers have for whites and america? 20 years and nothing? REALLY? How about Harvard? A radical terrorist helped get him into Harvard and is a supporter. You all know how politics work right? You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. GEE, I wonder what he will be doing for all these terrorists. and sadly you don't ask that question. I have a 16 year old daughter that I keep a close eye on who she associates with, because like it or not you are judged by your associations. Obama couldnt even get a job in the defense industry because of his background with these people but can run for President of the United States. You are all right about one thing though, the fact that can even happen says alot about our country that isnt good.
Channeling Joe McCarthy?
I guess you think that it is appropriate to call people names, call for their death and in general incite unlawful behavior, when its in your own best interest. You don't have a clue what's going on in this country. Do you not realize that having views different from yours, having a different skin color, having a different set of religious beliefs, having different personal values than yours was what this country was founded on. You need to read your American history books. You are so deeply sucked into the Neo-natzism of the right wing Republican party that there is probably no hope for you. You need to take a good look in the mirror and into your soul and ask yourself if that is the kind of person your God wants you to be. That sort of hatred and intolerance is not a part of any religion I know of, it certainly not part of my Christian beliefs and not a part of Muslim or Hindu or any other religion either.
Nope! I just think they are real questions that deserve real answers. I also think if he were the Republican candidate that it would be demanded by both the people and the media that they be answered.
First of all you freak! I voted for William Clinton twice and loved him as a president!!! And I have never, and I mean NEVER heard a single remark calling for death or anything having to do with his race come from either candidates mouth. And the great thing about this country is people can have all different opinions but they should be informed opinions. And since you fell so informed, PLEASE feel free to answer those questions for Obama. I'm listening!
Come on Monty, you called me an Noe-Natzi, answer me!
Gee Mary, we're talking about McCain/Palin supporters saying those things and it taking public backlash to finally get McCain to tell people to stop. No one has accused McCain or Bubble-Head of saying those things, just facilitating them. Nice tolerance too calling me a freak when you've never met me, you've just proved my point. There is no point in discussion with people so closed minded as yourself. Bill Clinton would be embarrassed that you voted for him. I hope you enjoy being part of China if McCain is elected, because they are going to own us if things continue along the current path.
Oh and by the way Mary, I didn't call you a Neo-natzi because I don't know you, I said you had been sucked in by the Neo-natzi rhetoric of the right wing Republicans, just like many innocent Germans were sucked in by Hitler.
Same thing Monty! But your right, you don't know me. But you did say something interesting. You referred to my god. Who is yours?
Oh and again, since you are so informed. Answer the questions. I could care less about Ayers really, but all the other associations. They do concern me a little. and please tell me, if these were questions about McCain wouldnt you want the answers?
You obviously didn't read my post when I said my "Christian beliefs" Mary, and by the way if, just if a Muslim or Jew or other non Christian ever became President of the United States, show me where in the Constitution that says that would be wrong. Do you not remember that people fled from Europe because of religious persecution and came to this country? Why are you so intolerant and fearful of those who have different skin color or different religious beliefs from you? I have black friends, Hispanic friends, Jewish friends and yes even Muslim friends and they are every bit proud Americans and every bit as patriotic as John McCain. Goodbye Mary, I wish you the best.
Thanks, but again you didnt answer the question. And I to have friends that are black, jewish and my dear neighbors are muslim. Guess what. They want the questions answered to. Because they don't believe in the violent insighting people Obama associates with. And the Muslim faith is peaceful much like christianity. But that isnt the issue is it. That is why you still dont answer the questions. If they were answered the questions would go away and so would the uncertainty. But you run and hide from the questions, you go ahead and say it is the republicans that are full of hate. But there is nothing there to back it up. But plenty of videos spouting murder and hate from your candidates friends. You can't ignore it.
The Muslim faith is peaceful like Christianity?? Yikes, well, they are alike, but peaceful is not the word that comes to mind. Mary, you have no clue on any issue, it would appear.
i want to know who are all these associations that the reps keep bringing up? so far there's ayers, wright and rezko . . . . so what, where's the rest? If three people is all that the reps can dig up in obamas 47 yrs on this earth, its pretty pathetic.
Hell, I can find more people who i went to high school with that did worse. i guess that by the reps six degrees of seperation game, that must make me a criminal too!
DD50 your funny, thats the point! There are radicals and there are peaceful. I want to know how Obama can have these associations like Khalidal al-mansour and that be okay. And then for a dear little old man to have been mistaken of the name after the fact. PLEASE!!!!!!Are you really that sucked in? I would'nt believe it if he was a republican. you go vote a party and not a person. It only hurts the WHOLE COUNTRY!
Change your channel once in awhile, theres a whole world out there besides msnbc. I've watched both. Name one person McCain associates with that could be a threat to the american people. And save the whole McCain or Palin and really answer the question.
Mary, these people will not answer the questions. They are so scared of Obama's past that they do not want to know about it. We must find out about how Obama was brought up and what his true beliefs are. The media has done nothing to vet this man. He is getting a free pass on everything. For once I can see why Hillary was so mad at the left-wing media. Not even the Clintons could break through the bias media and get to the truth. All I can tell you is they (the Obama team and the MSM) are hiding something. Otherwise these questions would be answered.
Mary...
Who was the radical terrorist that helped get Obama in Harvard? Have you documented proof or are you espousing a radical Sean Hannity? The same Hannity that believes the N word should be used. The same Hannity who expo uses there isn't anything called racism.
No, believe it or not they are the words of Percy Sutton. I don't recall Hannity in that interview.
But you can throw stones in the other direction to maybe throw someone off. I love you guys on this site. You seem to speak for all Dems. If I were Obama I would beg you to stop since you can't seem to keep up. But then again you are like him with avoiding answering questions. Great at insults though. I have been asked in an earlier blog to be clear on my questions and guess what. I was, and for the answers I received 1 insult and nothing else.
Why not just answer the questions? My god your and american before being a democrat, republican, black, white, jew get my point?
I believe in gun control, I believe in a womans right to choose, I believe gay, straight, black, white we are all entitled to equality. But all of that I believe applies to all people that are here legally. Do you think it's easy for me to jump the fence? NO! But when someones character
is so in question and wont defend himself with answers to the questions that are so VERY important. No, he doesn't get my vote. And please dont say he has because they are politicians answers. Half truths.
Nothing remotely close to this has come out about McCain. And Palin please, like troopergate compares to radicalism.
And yes, racism clearly is alive and well in the United States. Just read these blogs.
But pay attention, it clearly goes both ways!!!!
Mary, to answer your questions about Dr. Khalid Abdullah Tariq al-Mansour. The only thing I could find that wasn't tainted by innuendo or spin from either side was a short bio from a leadership council he is on with Carly Fiorina:
The [African Leadership] Academy's Board of Advisors is comprised of African and global luminaries in business, leadership development, secondary education, and social entrepreneurship. The Advisory Board provides strategic input and guidance to the ALA management team.
Carly Fiorina, Former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Hewlett-Packard
Mrs. Fiorina was Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) from 1999 to 2005. Before joining Hewlett-Packard as CEO, Carly spent 22 years in leadership positions at AT&T and Lucent Technologies. She sits on the boards of Taiwan Semiconductor and Revolution Health, serves as a trustee for MIT, and is a board member of numerous non-profit organizations, including Freedom House, Initiative for Global Development, and the National Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Khalid Al-Mansour, Senior Advisor, HRH Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal
Dr. Al-Mansour is an international attorney and businessman and is renowned as an intellectual, activist, author, and teacher. He co-founded the law firm of Al-Waleed, Al-Talal, and Al-Mansour and has served as a director of the Saudi African Bank and the United Bank of Africa among others.
Al-Mansour himself will not comment about any relationship he may or may not have with Obama, nor will comment on the Percy Sutton interview. He neither confirms nor denies that he called Sutton. Al-Mansour is doing his best to stay out of the whole thing.
To tell you the truth, I don't blame him. In this environment, things get distorted, by both sides.
I hope this answers your question on who al-Mansour is. As for his association / relationship with Obama, I couldn't find anything that could be definitively proven in anyway that wasn't from suspect sources.
Peace.
Wow! You didnt look then. There is an interview with Percy Sutton who stated that he received a call from al-Mansour asking him to help get a gentleman by the name of Barrack Obama into Harvard. But I guess that is tainted to you? Because in my findings he has no political agenda. And if you want to see the video try youtube. And in all honesty if you were al-Mansour and you had an association with someone so close to the white house would you claim it?
I guess if we had asked the terrorist that flew planes into the world trade centers and pentagon and a field on its way to the white house why they were really on those planes they would have told us? This is what is infuriating. I have not made one accusation against your candidate but yet I have been called every name in the book for just asking a few questions
that still havent been answered. Who are you to choose what is tainted or stained with innuendo? Do you really expect an artical about HP to clear this up? HP isnt the white house darlin.
I don't think I called you any names in my post. In fact I am very sure I haven't. You asked for information. I found contemporary biographical information, not news reports.
As for the interview with Percy Sutton, yes I have read it. You have one person, an 86 year-old man, saying "So-and-so called me and asked me to write a letter." Ok. He wrote a letter. And this matters why? Did al-Mansour force him to write it? Do you really think it made any difference at all whether or not Obama got into Harvard Law?
Again, why would al-Mansour ask Percy Sutton to write a letter for Obama, if he himself is such a powerful man? He has the ear of one of the richest men in the world. Why not have him write the letter? Or just pony up the money?
Also, why would Obama need the letter? He was a legacy. His father went to Harvard. That scores a few extra points on the Admission. Plus there is that application, the admissions interviews, the LSAT scores, previous college scores. Harvard Law is not easy to get into. One letter of recommendation is not going to make a difference if the person is a horrible student.
By the way, you do know about legacy entrances at Ivy League Colleges, right? It gives you a leg up in getting admitted. Bush was a legacy at Yale thanks to dear old dad. And I wouldn't doubt that part of McCain's acceptance to the Naval Academy may have had something to do with his father and grandfather also being graduates of the Academy in Annapolis, because by all accounts he was a mediocre student.
If you listen carefully to what the Sutton is saying, there are anachronisms. First he says he met and was introduced to Obama, then it was he was asked to write a letter for Obama. Which is it? He also states that Obama was already accepted to Harvard and could be President of the Law Review. What? You have to be at least a second year student to be selected as one of the editors of the law review. And the reivew panel of 80 people are the ones that pickthe lead editor, or President. That requires the grades, written articles, and interviews.
You are right the Mr Sutton does not have an agenda. None at all. But I think we heard two different interviews if you can go from the ramblings of an old man to Obama was financed by a radical. As for how did he pay for Harvard? Have you heard of Student Loans? Grants? Scholarships?
I went looking for basic facts. Not news reports. I'm sorry I wasn't able to live up to your expectations of what you believe an Obama supporter would come up with.
As for your charge: Who am I to choose what is tainted and stained with innuendo? How about this: I will admit that my choice was subjective. Anybody who is going to vote has a subjective interest in this. But that does not negate my ability to think critically. I looked for information that wasn't written by a blogger or news organization. It's kind of like looking in an encyclopedia. It's full of facts, but little or no opinion. That is what I was going for.
I did find one interview with al-Mansour which is basically one big "No Comment". I try to find both sides of the story. Do you?
And the article wasn't about HP. It was directly from the African Leaderhip Academy's website, word for word. I included the information about Ms Fiorina because I just thought it was interesting that she serves on a board with this "radical". Gee, does that sound familiar?
And don't call me darlin'.
Wow, you seem to be very one sided. It is a video interview were Mr. Sutton is praising Obama.
He never said he was asked to write a letter other that give a personal reference for Obama.
I never asked how he paid for his education, that is irrelevant. The question is only to his association with this man and why it was important to him. That's it.
Thank you though for clearing up the whole "no comment". I guess thats what your suggesting.
And yes you are correct about admittance and legacy. But why wont the senator allow the people access to his education records? Bush did, McCain has. What is the big deal?
Why so much secretiveness? If I had so many throwing these accusations at me I certainly wouldnt brush it off.
His voting record shows me that he isnt representing the people, so I need to know alittle more about the person.
Clearly it is smoke and mirrors for you. But I don't think you really care as long as you just follow your party. To me that isnt truly educating yourself. If you only look for the good and avoid the bad, all you see is what you want to see. Good luck with that.
It's not going to matter what I say. Apparently my answers were not good enough for you.
You will read what you want. And no, I don't blindly follow any party. I do actually research where the candidates stand on the issues. And where do I get the information on the policy stances? Why the candidates own websites. I also look at websites such as TaxPolicyCenter.org to look at an independent analysis of how the tax policies will affect me.
I also have tried to find answers to the questions that are being brought up about Obama. Yes, he is an unknown quantity that is why I looked for as much nonpartisan information as I could. I've read the news reports on both the so-called liberal sites, and the so-called conservative sites. I'm sure the truth is somewhere in between.
But Obama's past isn't a big factor in my decision to support him. Where he stands on the issues are more important to me.
I've made my decision. Apparently you have made yours. I've tried to be respectful and answer the questions you have asked, as you requested. I also wish you the best.
No matter what happens on November 4th, I'll know I have done my part to participate in the circus US elections have become. And I am sure that you will have done your part.
Whatever happens, who ever wins, that person will be the President of the United States. I can only hope and pray that he will be able to help, and not hurt, this country.
I wish you peace.
Thank you, you have been very respectful. And I do appriciate you answering some of my questions and I hope you know it wasnt a waste of your time. I will look at some of the web sites and article you suggested.
Peace with you as well
Just as an FYI, there are a couple of other sites that I have found useful, as have my Republican friends. ;)
politifact.com
factcheck.org
procon.org
The last one is very nice if you are looking for issue stances. It even includes third party candidates, something that is missing from a lot of other sites.
Politifact seems to take some pleasure out of skewering ALL candidates when they "mis-speak". They have a "Truth-o-Meter" that goes from "Truth" to "Pants on Fire" lying. And they skewer everyone.
Peace! And have a great day!
If McCain really wanted to make a statement, he should have asked Condoleezza Rice to be his VP pick. Now there is an intelligent black woman who really knows both foreign and domestic issues. Unfortunately, I don't think she would have had a chance being tied to the Bush administration. Things have really gone downhill since Palin came on board, however.
And for those above such as MOBRUTZ who make such blanket statements as "the reason I NEVER vote gop? THE WHITE TRASH BIGOTS THAT SUPPORT THEM", you really highlight your own uneducated, bigoted nature. You might want to get the log out of your own eye before helping others with the splinters stuck in theirs.
I think Bob and Reggie above have the most truthful and sane view of the election. This country will continue its downfall with either candidate. Both are terrible picks, and it will be a rough four years plus whatever aftershocks remain for many more.
Bingo. It would have been a slam dunk for him had he done this.
Yes, even my dad, who is 3 weeks older than McSame, suggested Condi. Palin is such a nitwit.
they asked condi about it, she said she was done with politics and wanted to go back to teaching. It seems like everyone who was decent in the Bush administration got fed up with it's type of politics.
Condi's through with politics. She has her eye on becoming the next NFL Commissioner.
I notice a great deal of coverage/commentary has been given to McCain's remarks about Obama's "decency" and the fact that he (McC) "endured" boos as a result. I realize this gave some of those who are agonizing over "what has happened to the John we knew" some relief, but
what I have not noticed is mention of the fact that not a few minutes later he was again pounding on "the Ayers connection".
It's obvious that other than a little symbolic acquiesence, nothing has changed. If you are reporting the news, both aspects should be revealed.
